I'm currently developing small maps, under the BoV terrain guidelines. They are designed to fit on a 20 x 30 piece of foam core for easy portability, and bring melee back into the game.

Sorry for taking so long to post in here - this thread kinda slipped my mind!

Both maps are very compact, but still manage to provide interesting strategic options. Both play bloody fast, which is nice.

"Valhallan Chess Match" obviosly caters to melee armies, but ranged units still have a fighting chance here. While the road enables a quick advance, it offers little cover and units using the road often aren't able to cross the field to attack once they're in enemy territory. I got at least 2 games in here - both were lightning-quick, and each played very differently.

"Knophree Pass" flat-out looks cool, and plays well too. I only recall getting one game in here, so my experience with this one is rather limited. With that wide road, you opponent can be in your lap pretty darn quick. The journey from the ruins across height to the opposite starting zone is shorter than it appears, and offers a real alternative to speeding down the road.

Nilfheim was the only dragon I saw played here, and his roost options were limited given the tight, varied terrain. Braxas would likely be a terror, but I didn't get the chance to find out.

The raised 7-hex platform in each starting zone is a huge boon to ranged units - not sure how I felt about it. It does offer some protection (height) against an all-out road assault, but perhaps a bit too much.

You have to have the picture hosted somewhere on the web (facebook, photobucket, etc.). Then insert a link to it in your post. Use the Img button on the tool bar.

Here is a sample. I put the following link inbetween img commands.
