Outdoor battles... hmmm... that big fiery thing in the sky that I'm on unfriendly terms with may cause glare on Arctic Divide...

Spineback Ridge has no glyphs, at least not on the file I have.

Everyone cool with that?

I don't know where you would put one. I like having glyphs though as it seems to make a wider variety of army's viable...

The only places I think would be fair would be in the central depressions.

WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!

I mean... no... everything's fine.

I'm sure I'm worrying about nothing. I didn't believe Drew's place could hold the metric tonnage it did, and I was proven quite wrong.

I know I didn't take part in the voting but FWIW I hated the map the one time I played on it... and off the top of my head I think glyphs would make it worse. Whoever can climb to the middle first has a big enough advantage as it is.

Come to think of it. It might be interesting to put the glyphs in the sections with the battlements since that section seemed mostly pointless to me but that would be very odd having glyphs so close to the start section. Flying units could get there in one move.

I'm fine with a no-glyphs map.

I'm fine either way... just thought glyphs might spice it up a bit.

Embattled Fen only has 23 start spaces. What's the ruling on that?

On the actual build instructions, there are 24 hexes marked. It's just the picture that is off.

I'm still not totally sure what army I'll be playing... I've been toying around with some new concepts... decisions...decisions... :?

Greg, Karl & I are car pooling... hopefully between the 3 of us and a GPS we can find Gatekeeper (crosses fingers) [smilie=rlp_smilie_242.gif]

Okay, just as a reminder for those who have been to the Gatekeeper before. It's no longer in that dingy little strip-mall... it's in a completely different dingy little strip-mall now. It's at the intersection of Gage Blvd. and Huntoon, in the south-west corner (where Wendy's reigns supreme). You'll drive towards the back corner. There's a separate 2-story building there with a thing and a place and another place. If you drive along the major strip-mall and turn left at the corner you'll see it. I'll post a Google-Earth link tonight because I'm just that paranoid.

Ditto.

That reminds me, can someone loan me a squad of 4th Mass? I'm not sure if that's what I'm going to use but I'd like to know if I have the option.

Ditto. Should be interesting!

Are we all playing each other's previous tourney armies?

Personally I am trying to make a more "fun" army, instead of stronger like I have for the other tournaments. I am a bit nervous, I have pretty much decided what I am playing, but never played it and don't think I am going to have a chance to test it out before the tournament. Should be interesting

I wanted to give a huge shout out to EJ for putting the whole thing on. The whole thing was excellent and everyone I spoke with had a wonderful time. Tons of work went into it and I (and everyone with me) really had a fantastic time.

Darn you Karl for not losing one more 4th Mass! :) And no thanks to you for emasculating me in front of my wife. :? And thanks Andrew for letting me have the first pick, my wife really wanted the dice tray that Greg brought.

Thanks also to everyone that attended to make it a success. I hope it was worth the drive. I really had a great time meeting all of the new folks and hope to see you at the April 26th tournament. (We will have a lot more space there)

Thanks to all of you who attended. I think it went great, everyone was great sports and it was just, generally, great.

Also, thanks again to everyone who brought games for the Drive. Since the April 26th tournament will be 2-3 weeks before the end of the drive you'll hear me once again ask that those who attend to bring a game for the drive. I'm not asking for those who've donated to do so yet again, we're just expecting even more people since it'll be announced on 'scapers.com this time.

I was honestly very concerned about the standings. We went into the final round with only 1 undefeated player - Zack. After that round Zack still only has 3 wins and quite a few who had 2 wins suddenly had 3. Then the standings showed not one, but two ties. I quickly double-checked as many of the data entries as I could and tried to verify it manually. It seemed to check out, so I announced them. Zack and Andrew tied for first place!

FYI - I hand-checked all the cards this morning and the standings hold up. We indeed had ties. The Win records, the SoS and the losing points were identical. I chalk this up to having 4 rounds with 16 players. It also shows how powerful the Strength of Schedule system is. If one of Andrew or Zack's previous opponents had lost their last game instead of winning it, then their SoS score would've put them in second place.

I'll post the standings later today, when my coworkers aren't rudely asking me questions and wanting me to ... work.

I want to see the armies!!! :)

I was surprised by how many people brought melee troops. I didn't have the guts after seeing the ice map (and to a lesser extent the lava map)

I ended up bringing:

Nelf - 185
Johnny - 65
4th Mass x 2 - 140
Airborne Elite - 110

I thought the AE would be pretty effective on a couple of the maps we had (especially Spineback) but they were not such a big deal. I did kill three of Karl's Super-4th (All valiant and a defense glyph) with a single grenade though. I've nicknamed that soldier EJ due to his studliness.

As for other armies I know a couple:

Matt - (6th place?)
Warriors of Ashra x 2, Aubrien Archers x 2, Sonlen, Syvaris

Anni - (7th place?)
Q9, Airborne Elite, Edgrim, Krav, Raelin (RotV)

Bill - (9th place?)
Q9, Laglor, Agent Carr, Guilty, Raelin (RotV)

Also - big props to Dan for having such a unique prize. I certainly would not have unloaded that custom, she looked too good.
