How many 490-500 point armies can be derived from the original RotV set?

I came up with the answer late last night. 627 unique 500 point armies can be generated from the RotV set.

Really? Wow. That seems very high.. Do all those come out to exactly 500 or were you using a minimum acceptable total?

Those are just the 500 points exactly armies. The total number of possible armies (from 1 card to 16 cards) exceeds 65000, the maximum number of rows in excel. Mindboggling, isn't it.

Looks like you already answered the question. Just thinking about all the possible permutations is exciting, especially when all the other units are added into the mix.

Ultimately it means we will never run out of possible armies to play.

I wonder how many of those possible armies have actually been played by someone?

It would be interesting as well, to make up a list of all of them and see if we could try each one out.
