Andrew, I created this topic so that once Wave 8 is available for pre-order you can let us know and we can let you know what we'd like to get.

Fingers crossed that this happens sooner rather than later. I want to be voting for my favorite Wave 8 Hero before my next President*.

Well, crappy thing is, technically it is already past the point for guaranteed pre-orders as the set was ordered for back in August or September (for a December ship date). That being said, I might be able ot still swing orders seeing as how it hasn't even arrived yet and no company has any clue when that will change. I can say that my price on a case would be 48.75 (plus tax for purchases made in MO).

Let me check tomorrow and see the feasability of bumping my order up and what the likelihood of actually getting whatever that number might be on Wednesday when I do my usual weekly gaming order for the week.

Even if I don't have much luck with orders right now I will have a fair amount available based off of previous orders... I will let you know!

(EJ, you might want to change the topic title to "What's Going On With Heroscape"... This is going to answer a handful of questions that we all have had for a time!)

OK, so I just got off of the phone with my rep at WotC and have a pretty solid grip on what's going on with Hasbro/ Heroscape and what's to come so, here it goes...

1.) IS THE GAME BEING CANCELED? Nope. The game is being transitioned (I love corporate-speak!) over to WotC fully. What this means is that they will take over order fullfilment starting in April. What does this mean? Basically, nothing will change as far as where you find the game stocked other than it will make my life a lot easier to by being able to stock the game on a more regular basis. Not sure about discounts, cost, etc... yet so in all likelihood prices are probably not gonna change other than the my cost per case will jump uniformly with all expansions as opposed to only Wave 7 being more costly as of right this minute.

2.) WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO FIND ANYTHING RIGHT NOW? Due to the transition not even taking effect till April, Hasbro is apparently not going to do a lot of restock fullfilment and will simply let WotC take care of it. This is the reason why, just a few minutes ago I did a large order of Wave 6 (all I could order blister-wise) in order to cover tourney-prize demand if nothing else!

3.) WHERE ARE THE EXPANSIONS THAT WERE DUE LAST YEAR? These won't release until at least May or June. So, I suppose on the bright side we shouldn't have any problems with pre-order demand so feel free to fire away with requests.

4.) WHAT'S THIS MEAN FOR THE FUTURE OF THE GAME? This is pure speculation based off of past history of WotC so take it with a grain of salt. The game should ramp up it's releases a bit and end up being on a pretty tight shcedule as far as when to expect those releases. WotC likes to have a very smooth running ship so this should be a serious positive. Design-wise and miniature-wise this should also help the game as WotC is generally ahead of the pack when it comes to overall production on games. Of course, it might mean we see some recycled minis from Dreamblade making there way to a hex near you but hell, if it means getting this game on track then so be it. It should also mean better/ supported organized play eventually along better packaging with the big box releases (2 boxes of terrain along with one box of unique figs) as they generally "get it" when it comes to that sort of thing.

I think I covered it all. I hope that sheds some light!

Thanks, Drew. Do you want to post this same info at 'scapers and give them all more fodder for rancor and relief?

Yeah, and I want a word with my old typing teacher! Double spaces after sentences... do you know how long it took me to unlearn that?

I just posted this on 'Scapers and thought I would x-post here...

Pulp Fiction wrote:
(so, it took me forever to finally sign on here... I am intarwub-stoopid sometimes. Who knew Albanian language would screw me up so much!)

So, I am the guy who owns the FLGS that TOG was quoting earlier... I thought I would jump on here to help flesh out what I was saying and, well; to just be on here. I love Heroscape afterall...!

The biggest thing to make mention of WotC taking over things really is that this should be barely a blip on the screen for everyone. Being the 800lb gorilla in the room of RPGs and CCGs means they generally know what they are doing when it comes to gaming. I really don't think we will see any changes (especially at first...things might change game is in a year or so if they feel they can make a positive direction change) to the way the game is distributed and how it is designed.

I will say that the reason I put May or June for the next set of releases isn't because of any hard info, it really had more to do with the fact that my Rep at WotC was really cagey with committing to a release date any earlier. He came across mostly as "we are going to work on restocking first, once that is in place and the new sets are printed and in stock we will look towards the new stuff shipping". Understand, some of what I said was more reading between the lines of what he was saying as I think the reason we haven't seen an official news release yet is dueto some of the "fine tuning" questions haven't been answered inhouse yet.

A final thought/ guess as to whats to come is Organized Play. Understand that this is more wishful thinking but based off of what WotC does currently with all of their minis games is a monthly tourney/league kit. These things consist of a maps (as needed) along with a promo mini (and it's respective card) to give out to all participants and typically has a minor cost associated with it. To me, this would be a fantastic way of supporting the game!! Imagine if all you had to do was drop $3 or so a month and, of course, play in an event; to get the fig. I personally could see this really opening the door for Hobby stores to support this game like mad if they knew they had a good sized crowd coming up to play at least once a month. More store support does mean more competition for guys like me but hell, it also means a stronger game in the end!

Just my two cents.

Good lord TOG, it did stir up a hornet's nest, didn't it?? Remind me to tell you guys about the phone call (yup, a phone call) I just had that was because of the posting on 'Scapers. Not for public consumption so I will have to wait till I see anyone curious about it in person.

Where did you hear that you aren't supposed to doubles space after a sentance? I still do, and I have always heard you were supposed to. With computers maybe it does it for you now if you don't automatically, but don't think its wrong to do it. Notice I double spaced after every sentence I have typed here. Do we need to open an english and typing forum topic?

I'm in the publishing industry, and apparently it's been decided that with the spacing features available in most word processing or layout programs that double-spacing is no longer needed. Before we dropped the practice we had a few biddies complaining about "rivers of white space." Whatever. Anyway, when we got a new editor one year we decided to standardize several things and that was one of the things addressed.

Browsers take out double-spaces. Check your post. If you quote your post there are two spaces (I just checked that), but if you highlight your post as it's presented you'll only see one.

Oh, and if you think I'm old-school about THAT, let me tell you about formatting phone numbers. :pet peeve:

It's not so much that I'm aversive to change, it's just that I'd like things to stay the same, especially things I was graded on.

And that, boys and girls, is why you should never post your info on a public forum.

Drew, was the caller fascinated by anything?

Which reminds me, I took my personal email off the forums and put my spam one on, so admin emails from this forum will come from 'frombuzz@yahoo.dot.com'.
